About Yearly Inflation Calculator

A free tool for turning a Consumer Price Index into an answer anyone can use.

Why this exists

Prices move every year, but that movement is easy to feel and hard to measure. Yearly Inflation Calculator was built to answer one question precisely: what is an amount of money from one year actually worth in another year, for a given country? Rather than applying one assumed inflation rate across a period, it looks up the published price index for both years and compares them directly, so the answer reflects what actually happened.

What makes it different

  • Real, published Consumer Price Index data for 192 countries — not a guessed average rate.
  • Cumulative inflation, average annual inflation and purchasing power shown together, since each answers a different question.
  • No account, no cookies, no tracking — the arithmetic runs entirely in your browser.
  • A full methodology page that shows the exact data source and every formula used.

Where the data comes from

Figures are drawn from World Bank Open Data's Consumer price index (2010 = 100) series (indicator FP.CPI.TOTL), which compiles the official Consumer Price Index published by each country's national statistics agency. The dataset was last refreshed 2026-09-14. Full detail, including formulas and known limitations, is on the methodology page.

Who it's for

Students and researchers converting historical figures into today's money; investors checking a return against the cost of living; businesses repricing long-running contracts; journalists putting an old price in context; and anyone curious what a past salary, price or savings balance is really worth now.
